Mark Crowther, 53, is an entrepreneurial business leader with over 30 years’ experience across the food, drink and hospitality sectors including with Allied Domecq, Diageo and Carlsberg. In 2008 Mark led the buyout of the Channel Islands leading regional brewery business to create Liberation Group. Under his leadership the business grew into the UK through several acquisitions including Butcombe brewery & pubs and SABrains’ west country pubs business. With 120 managed and tenanted pubs, two breweries and three wholesale businesses the group more than doubled EBITDA under his leadership. The business was successfully exited for £118m delivering a 2.8x return for management and his backers, LGV Capital.
Mark is now Chairman and investor in the London based Portobello brewery & pubs business. He is also Chairman and investor in the Risk Capital backed Curious Brewery. Finally, he has also recently joined the Board of Darwin & Wallace as Non-Executive Director.
