Brought up in Hull in the 1970s, Mark Brumby qualified as an accountant before going to Cambridge in the mid-80s, where he read economics. Leaving university, he joined Morgan Grenfell (now a part of Deutsche Bank) in The City and worked for a number of broking houses as a leisure analyst and salesman before moving to Geneva for a few years around the Millennium. There he managed money and ran a leisure fund for private bank, Pictet, before returning to London to co-found Oriel Securities in 2002. He founded Langton Capital in 2010. Since returning to the UK, Mark has invested in a number of start-up companies, including Drake & Morgan, where he was a director until the founders and original shareholders sold out to private equity firm, Bowmark, in 2013. He is married with five children and a dog. Four of the humans are nominally adult. He lives and works in York and London. He writes for a living and for enjoyment and his latest book, Always Adam, is being published by Boomslang on 30 November.
